Aishwarya Rai









Aishwarya Rai is the star of the millennium and the heart throb of millions. She is a star who just needs no recognition. her name itself speaks of fame and glory. This Indian damsel was born on 1st November 1973 Mangalore, Karnataka, India. Its just right to say that she is one who makes India proud. Aishwarya Rai initially wanted to be an architect but fame, had more glory and success in store for her. life for her changed when she was crowned as the most beautiful lady on the planet and given the Miss World title.
Aishwarya did her schooling at Arya Vidya Mandir, Santacruz. Academically, she did very well and earned her position as the head girl of her school. Ash chose the science stream while at DG Ruparel College, her favorite subject being Zoology. Aishwarya wanted to do medicine, but circumstances didn't let her. Instead she chose Architecture and passed the interview at Raheja College with flying colors. However the destiny changed the career paths for her and she went to South Africa for the Miss World contest. On her winning the crown she received an overwhelming reception on her return to India. Young and old people lined the streets to cheer her on her home-coming
Success followed one after another. Films poured in for the new Indian damsel. Although not very successful in the beginning but it did not take much for the beauty queen to become the reigning queen of the bollywood film industry. After the movies like "Jeans" and "Aur Pyar Ho gaya" bombed at the box office everyone begin to though that this beauty will play no magic on the silver screen but she proved everyone wrong. She gave one hit after another. the most notable being "Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam" "Taal" and Devdas". Devdas became the first Hindi Commercial Film to be screened at Cannes Film festival. Incidentally she earned the distinction of being the first Indian Actress on the jury of the same festival.
In 2003 Aishwarya became the first Indian actor to be a member of the jury at the Cannes Film Festival. Ash is also the latest member of the elite L'Oreal Dream Team, joining beauties Catherine Deneuve & Andie MacDowell as their international ambassador. She graced the covers of India Today and the prestigious TIME Magazine. Ash was listed on Rolling Stone Magazine's annual "Hot List".
Aish not only became the Bollywood queen but also received international offers. Ash is set to star in "Chaos" opposite Meryl Streep for French Director Coline Serreau, "Singularity" opposite Brendan Fraser for director Roland Joffe and "I Know a Place" for Director/Writer Barton Randall and will end the year with "Mistress of Spices" once again with Director Gurinder Chadha.
On a personal note she is very kind at heart which is shown by the fact that she has pledged her eye to an Eye bank.
